ORMED SIGNS E-COMMERCE AGREEMENT WITH EMERGIS

EDMONTON, CANADA:  Ormed Information Systems Ltd., Canada’s leading provider of e-commerce enabled MIS software solutions for healthcare, today announced the signing of an agreement with IT leader Emergis Inc. to open a network interface between ORMED X® and CareNET Services Inc., an association that currently supports the use of e-commerce among 392 Canadian healthcare providers and 95 suppliers. The new interface enables Ormed clients to send e-commerce transactions directly to CareNET’s supplier community through Emergis, a CareNET technology partner.

“This is wonderful news for all of our hospitals because they can now reach any of CareNET’s suppliers using an integrated solution within the ORMED X platform,” says Dale Gregg, Ormed’s senior vice president and chief technology officer.

“The new arrangement with Ormed expands the transaction sources for CareNET supplier members and is in line with Emergis’ efforts to support the creation of electronic communities of healthcare providers for its EHR-related initiatives,” says Mike Roszak, vice-president, business development, health – public sector of Emergis.

Emergis automates transactions and the exchange of information to increase the process efficiency and quality of service of clients in the healthcare and financial services markets. Emergis solutions securely capture, transport, format, and validate information to be exchange between its customers and their trading communities in order to trigger a decision, payment, or other action. Emergis provides CareNET with a messaging platform for e-commerce transactions between members of the healthcare providers and their suppliers in Canada.

CareNET chairperson Denise Shoesmith says, “CareNET Services Inc. is thrilled that this agreement is now in place to further expand trading relationship opportunities for the CareNET community.”

The agreement is of prime importance to hospitals that use ORMED MIS™ materials management software but did not previously connect to CareNET, and provides an additional benefit to healthcare providers seeking an integrated, e-commerce enabled supply chain solution with the advantage of an established e-commerce community. All are invited to visit the CareNET website (www.carenet.ca) for CareNET information and listings of its 392 providers and 95 suppliers.
